The mission of UWAD is to promote diabetes prevention, control, care, awareness, education, policies, and scientific research studies. In addition, UWAD is working towards combating obesity and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), increasing access to essential medicines, improving elderly healthcare, protecting and conserving medicinal plants, and studying the impact of climate change on human health. Furthermore, UWAD advocates for women’s health and type 1 diabetes.

Who We Are
UWAD is the leading fieldwork nonprofit organization for diabetes health in India, We are working in not only urban areas, but also in rural and remote areas where medical facilities are very limited.
To prevent and control diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
We lead the fight against the deadly consequences of diabetes and fight for those affected by diabetes. We deliver services to hundreds of communities and We give voice to those denied their rights because of diabetes.
What We Do
UWAD was founded in 2013 as an independent nonprofit organization and today is a leading diabetes awareness, prevention and care organization working in pan India. We are a group of 721 doctors working in rural and remote areas. We are also working on Obesity and other non-communicable diseases (NCDs), Old age health care, Medicinal plant protection & conservation, and the Impact of climate change effect on human health.
We are advocates for Type 1 Diabetic Children and Women’s living with diabetes. We are also committed to providing education, guidance, monitoring, and medical assistance essential for families to gain confidence in managing diabetes in rural areas and schools.

About 422 million people worldwide have diabetes, India is known as the diabetes capital of the world and more than 101 million people live with diabetes in India
unfortunately, 50 percent of the population is undiagnosed they don’t know whether they have it or not. Diabetes is a chronic disease and diabetes complications greatly impact human life so awareness plays a very important role in diabetes prevention and control.
